Bethany found out about an art class at the children's museum and got all three kids signed up for it. We go for about an hour, once a week, for seven weeks. The kids are loving it so far and we've had lots of fun art projects to bring home. I'm not a creative, artsy person so I'm glad my sister thought of this so my kids can get some part of it in their life!
Happy 4th of July!
We spent the afternoon on the boat and then had a perfect view of the fireworks at night. The kids liked pretending to sleep in one of the bedrooms and then playing in the water. It was kind of a mistake to even start dunking their feet in because the kids were practically trying to jump in. Avery threw quite a fit when we told her we were done with the water. I'm so glad the kids love the boat. It's so much fun when we are all out there together.
Fun at the park
We all met at the park one evening for some old-fashioned family fun. Ben and James played a little golf, Bethany and Dad played catch and the rest of the kids played in the water. My mom had the insight to strip the little kids down to their diapers to play in the water and sand (except Avery refused to take her shirt off). The girls wanted to swing so off they went. Mackayla loved swinging by herself and she was so comfortable with it. It scared the living daylights out of me but she had a blast. Speaking of blast, Avery would say "three, two, one, blast off" on the swing with Pappa. Somebody had dug a huge pit in the sand and James got the biggest kick out of that. After we had been there awhile it was time to go back to my parents. When the kids found out that Sean got to go back in my mom's car they ALL wanted to do that as well. My parent's house is literally two blocks from the park and my mom drove super slow so don't report us to Family Services!
We have a really nice pool at the gym we belong to and the kids love going there, especially with their friends. It's Ben's goal to have James swimming by the end of the summer so we got him a snorkel to start off. He's picking it up fast!
Ben had to be at Scout Camp for a week and we wanted to visit so we went up for ""family night." My dad graciously volunteered to accompany me so that I wouldn't have to make the long drive alone. We got to have dinner with all the scouts, hang out at their campsite and then join them in their campfire/awards ceremony. Avery even threw a little fit for us and we were able to get photographic evidence to use against her later. The kids loved seeing where their dad had been all week and I enjoyed seeing what Scout Camp is like, except the mom in me was a little concerned about all the dirt :)
