James built the planter box at Home Depot so we planted flowers in it for pre-school. Boys + dirt = fun!
While I was in the shower Ben and the kids decorated the mirror for me! James drew a picture of him and I with a heart in the middle and then wrote his name and "I love you". Ben had bought me 13 boxes of Hot Tamales and wrote a reason why they thought I was a good mom on each one. It was really sweet :)
I gave Avery a brownie and then noticed that she was taking it apart and only eating the walnuts. She loves being a mess.
James has been into Indiana Jones lately - he uses his belt as a whip.
Weekend at the beach!
David was in town so Bethany and my mom had the genius idea to rent a house at Cannon Beach for the weekend. On Friday we went straight to beach to meet Beth and Ben. The kids were having a blast until James, Mackayla and Avery fell in the water. Luckily the men were there to save them but they were freaked out after that. As long as we were far enough away the water they were fine.
This was the first time in years that all six of us kids, our spouses and children were under the same roof for more than two hours at a time! My mom bought Rock Band specifically for this weekend and that's pretty much all we did at night. It was a lot of fun watching all my brothers play together. The kids loved the instruments - Avery liked the microphone the best, while James preferred the drums.
The next day we spent on the beach. Ben built an elaborate sandcastle that had people stopping to watch him. Avery did not want to walk on the sand at all. She had to be carried or else she would totally freak out. The weather was perfect all weekend. We even managed to get an entire family picture taken - the last one we had was at Jon's wedding! It was seriously an awesome weekend and we are definately going to make a tradition out of it. I love my family!
Happy Anniversary to us!
Ben got me a super sweet camera for our anniversary so we went to the pool to put it to good use. I think that Avery was still freaked out by water because she would not let either of us put her down. She just wrapped around me and would not let go. James had a blast on the waterslide, of course!
One of the cool things about my new camera is that it will take 3 pictures a second so I could capture James' meltdown when we didn't give him his towel right away!
Bethany and I switched kids one day. I had Mackayla while she and my parents took James to Seattle to watch the Mariners play the Red Sox! That's a whole other story in itself and I'll write more about it when I get the pictures off my mom's camera. Anyways, the girls were cute as always and yes Mackayla has a cast on :( She got a buckle fracture the week before and has the cast for three weeks. It's sad but it's really cute how well she can move around with it. I'm so glad these two are so close!
The tall ships come to Portland!
These ships were really cool and the boys loved acting like pirates on them. They also loved digging for treasure in the dinosaur exhibit.
Ben and his buddies Greg and Jesse.
It was such a long day, they fell asleep almost immediately :)
Last, but certainly not least, our soon-to-be new baby! I had the ultrasound done in April but had forgotten to put it on our website - but we are having another girl! I was 100% convinced that I was having a boy so it was a complete surprise. I'm excited for Avery to have a sister and need to start working on changing our guest/play room into a girl's room :)
